- Jay is the founder and president of J. W. Townsend, Inc. He received his B. S. degree in Accounting from Virginia Tech. He has twenty-five years of industry experience and is a Virginia Certified Horticulturist with the Virginia Nursery and Landscape Association. A father and husband, Jay enjoys the outdoors, especially sailing and fishing.
- Phil is Vice President and Installation Manager. He attended the University of South Carolina and Virginia Tech. He has more than twenty years of industry experience, sixteen of which have been with J.W. Townsend, Inc. Phil is a Certified Horticulturist with the Virginia Nursery and Landscape Association and a Certified Arborist with the International Society of Arboriculture. He enjoys hunting and competitive shooting.
- Steve is our Vice President and Garden Maintenance Manager. Steve grew up on his family’s farm in Orange, Virginia and studied horticulture at Piedmont Virginia Community College. He has more than 10 years of experience in the industry and is an Advanced Virginia Certified Horticulturist with the Virginia Nursery and Landscape Association as well as a Certified Arborist through the International Society of Arboriculture. Steve lives in Louisa with his wife and two children. They enjoy gardening, hiking and traveling.
- Ed is our Nursery Manager. He received his Associates Degree in Fish and Wildlife Management and is a Certified Prescribed Burn Manager. He is a Certified Horticulturist with the Virginia Nursery and Landscape Association. He has fifteen years experience in natural resource management, horticulture and landscaping. Ed is a father of two who enjoys fishing and spending time outdoors.
- Graham is a Sales/Project Coordinator. He received a B. S. degree in Landscape Architecture from Cornell University. He is a Certified Horticulturist with the Virginia Nursery and Landscape Association, a certified member of the Virginia Society of Landscape Designers and a member of the American Society of Landscape Architects. Graham enjoys many outdoor pursuits, fine wine, and paints landscapes with watercolor in his leisure time.
- Dutchie is our Office Manager. She received her B. A. degree in Liberal Arts with minors in French and Mathematics from West Virginia University. She has thirteen years experience in marketing and organizational management. Dutchie is a mother and wife who enjoys gardening, reading and bird watching.
